Anforderungen
- Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Interest in service management, operations, troubleshooting, user support, configuration, and automation
- Deep understanding of Linux OS performance, tuning, and administration
- Deep understanding of distributed storage and filesystems architecture (e.g. NFS, CephFS)
- Debugging and diagnosing issues in complex distributed environments
- C++ software development experience of distributed storage systems (preferably with Ceph source code)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Good knowledge of scripting languages (python, shell)
- Storage systems design
- Application software development
- Knowledge of programming techniques and languages
- Knowledge of storage technologies
- Operation and maintenance of storage systems
- Delivering prompt and efficient service considering customer needs

Aufgaben
- Contribute to the design, evolution, and operation of distributed storage services
- Evolve CERN data storage systems for the Large Hadron Collider
- Work with open-source Ceph-based block, object, and filesystem solutions
- Ensure high availability, performance, and resilience across multi-datacenter environments
- Perform system-wide troubleshooting in a distributed Linux-based environment
- Optimize storage architectures for demanding workloads
- Use C++ software development skills to identify and troubleshoot Ceph issues
- Contribute code improvements to the upstream open-source Ceph project
- Improve automation, deployment, and observability aligned with DevOps practices
- Participate in projects involving storage for HPC and AI/ML
- Engage with international partners, participating in conferences and workshops
- Manage and operate distributed disk storage, block, object, and filesystem services
- Participate in the evolution of architecture and design of storage services
- Integrate, troubleshoot, and maintain distributed disk storage systems at scale
- Contribute to documentation, development, optimization, and automation of storage services
- Contribute to change management, incident response, and user support
- Liaise with key stakeholders inside and outside the IT department
