- Excellent research and writing skills
- Strong dedication to public interest law
- Enrolled in graduate program for degree duration
- Working towards legal degree (LLM, JD)
- Other graduate degrees (PhD, MA) considered if legal degree completed
- Internship part of study program for degree
- Internship validated by study credits (ECTS or equivalent)
- Minimum 12 weeks to maximum 24 weeks availability
- At least 24 hours/week availability
- Full-time internship for non-Swiss/EU citizens not in Switzerland
- Experience with international environmental or human rights law
- Familiarity with international human rights or environmental law (LLB students)
- Current non-legal program relevant to CIEL's work
- Demonstrated writing ability (can include undergraduate work)

- Research international trade law and policy
- Write about international trade law and policy
- Assist with policy analysis
- Assist with advocacy
- Attend meetings and conferences
- Assist with CIEL publication production
- Assist with legal opinion production
- Assist with legal brief production
- Support preparation of amicus curiae
- Work closely with CIEL staff on projects
