- Master's or PhD in industrial engineering, operations research, systems engineering, bioeconomy, energy economics, environmental science, economics, or comparable field
- Expertise in developing and applying mathematical optimisation and simulation models for complex resource and energy systems
- Research experience with integrated modelling of bioeconomy, biomass or energy systems
- Solid knowledge of quantitative methods, scenario analysis and decision support

- Develop and refine research questions on biomass demand and supply systems
- Develop cost-optimized biomass supply options for diverse regions
- Embed renewable energy and resource use in multifunctional landscapes
- Incorporate additional landscape functions as input data
- Secure third-party research funding for a dedicated research group
- Lead the research group and manage its resources
- Co-supervise doctoral researchers
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee personnel resources
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee financial resources
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee infrastructure resources
- Develop BENOPT optimization models
- Develop BENOPT software components
- Develop BENOPT user interfaces
- Test new methodological approaches for modelling
- Build a more flexible model infrastructure
- Communicate research findings through peer-reviewed publications
- Communicate research findings through international conference talks
- Represent the research field in international scientific networks
- Represent the research field in international advisory bodies
