- Advanced degree in law (Juris Doctor or equivalent)
- Post-graduate degree or certification in relevant law area
- Bar membership
- At least five years of legal experience at private law firm or legal department
- Demonstrated experience in banking, financial regulations, non-profit, corporate governance, procurement, IT, litigation, public international law, employment law, project finance
- Demonstrated experience providing legal advice and support on decision-making, negotiations, transactions, compliance, risk management, dispute resolution
- At least three years of legal experience in international organization or private law firm
- Oral and written fluency in English required
- Oral and written fluency in French desired
- Oral and written fluency of Arabic, Russian, Spanish or other languages would be an asset
Aufgaben
- Provide legal advice and support for the Global Fund's core business and investment portfolio management
- Provide legal advice and support for day-to-day institutional needs
- Negotiate and draft grant agreements and other legal documentation
- Submit and review funding requests, including designing implementation arrangements
- Advise on interpretation and enforcement of grant agreements
- Identify and mitigate legal risks
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations
- Advise on procurement matters
- Advise on privileges and immunities
- Advise on dispute resolution
- Pursue recoverable amounts for breaches of grant agreements
- Facilitate the work of the Office of the Inspector General
- Ensure consistency and compliance with Global Fund policies and procedures
- Design, develop, and draft Global Fund policies, procedures, and guidance for the grant portfolio
- Advise on strategy and policy matters related to Global Fund in-country investments
- Provide legal analysis and advice on corporate governance matters
- Draft decisions, policies, rules, and procedures
- Advise on strategy and policy matters
- Negotiate, draft, and advise on commercial, partnership, and service agreements
- Advise on employment law and human resources matters
- Advise on human resources policies, rules, and procedures
- Advise on grievances and dispute resolution
- Manage matters before the International Labour Organization’s Administrative Tribunal
- Support sourcing operations and initiatives
- Advise on ethics-related matters and internal procedures for sanctions
- Advise on external relations and resource mobilization
- Advise on corporate finance, accounting, and treasury
- Advise on public international law
- Advise on non-profit, tax-exempt, and foundations law
- Advise on risk management
- Advise on communications and intellectual property
- Advise on information technology and data protection
- Advise on Office of the Inspector General related matters
- Advise diverse stakeholders on strategic, operational, and procedural matters
- Collaborate within cross-functional teams
- Conduct factual inquiries and complex legal and policy research
- Interpret and analyze legal and policy information
- Understand legal and financial structures and risks of international financial transactions and project financing
- Coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and competing deadlines in fast-paced environments
- Exercise sound, independent judgment to evaluate and present options or recommendations
- Draft and negotiate diverse public- and private-sector contracts
- Tailor written and oral communication to diverse audiences
