- Provide technical leadership across two engineering teams
- Shape checkout capabilities across web, backend, and mobile
- Create technical alignment across payments, orders, and shipping
- Set architectural direction for the Transaction domain
- Raise engineering standards
- Turn complex challenges into scalable solutions
- Design scalable distributed solutions (frontend and backend)
- Facilitate complex architectural decisions
- Make data-driven trade-offs (performance, security, cost)
- Identify risks beyond individual teams
- Remain hands-on across frontend and backend
- Shape customer experiences with React
- Shape scalable backend capabilities with Java
- Influence solutions from discovery through production
- Establish foundations for native iOS and Android checkout
- Drive adoption of engineering practices (architecture, performance, security, testing, observability, reliability)
- Turn technical challenges into reusable patterns and capabilities
- Create alignment across Checkout, Payments, Orders, Shipping teams
- Mentor engineers
- Facilitate architecture and design discussions
- Provide technical direction without formal authority
- Partner with Product, UX, and engineering leadership
- Identify opportunities
- Challenge assumptions
- Translate business needs into technical strategy
- Evaluate trade-offs using data and industry trends
- Prioritize high-impact investments
- Determine when to evolve or introduce new technologies
