- Establish, optimize, and maintain in vitro protein biochemistry workflows
- Perform molecular cloning, recombinant protein expression, and purification
- Purify and characterize single-subunit proteins and multi-subunit protein complexes
- Design, perform, and troubleshoot single-molecule experiments
- Investigate protein-DNA and protein-protein interactions using optical tweezers and smTIRF
- Investigate dynamics/kinetics and force generation using optical tweezers and smTIRF
- Design, generate, and validate DNA and nucleic-acid substrates
- Develop and perform cell-based experiments
- Perform quantitative ELISAs, RT-qPCR, and transient protein expression
- Perform live-cell fluorescence imaging
- Perform quantitative image analysis of single-molecule and live-cell imaging
- Analyze and interpret quantitative experimental data using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
- Perform image processing, automated data analysis, and curve fitting
- Perform kinetic modeling and statistical analysis
- Contribute to experimental planning and interpretation of results
- Develop new experimental approaches and protocols
- Document experimental procedures and organize datasets
- Communicate findings through lab meetings, presentations, reports, and manuscripts
- Onboard and train new group members and visitors
- Test new tools and reagents
- Develop updates to experimental protocols
- Perform lab management tasks
- Maintain instruments and the lab calendar
- Order supplies and maintain inventory
- Maintain reagent and protein stocks
